Dragon-type Pokemon are usually very few when it comes to the main games. In Gen 1, you only had Dragonite and its previous forms, so just three of them.
That can be a bit of a problem when you’re playing Pokemon This Gym of Mine, or is it?
This game provides a healthy amount of Dragon-type Pokemon. That way, you can build up a team that can be strong and defend your Gym.
After all, this game will only allow you to use the same type or at least have two exceptions. Don’t worry, because we’ll tell you where to find Dragon types in Pokemon This Gym of Mine.

The Starter Dragon Types in Pokemon This Gym of Mine
When you choose to be a Dragon-type specialist, you are given a choice of three starter Pokemon that have the Dragon type.
- Bagon
- Gible
- Deino
Aside from their starter forms, they will also evolve to something even stronger, so there are more Dragon types to choose from.
We have Bagon, which later evolves into Shelgon and Salamence. Both Bagon and Shelgon have the Rock Head ability, which prevents any recoil damage.
Salamence is a Dragon/Flying type and has Intimidate, which lowers the enemy Pokemon’s Attack.
The second starter of choice is Gible, which evolves into Gabite and later Garchomp. All three are Dragon/Ground types, and all of them have Sand Veil as their ability, which boosts their evasion during a sandstorm.
The third starter is Deino, which evolves into Zweilous and then Hydreigon. All three of them are Dark/Dragon types, so the Dragon typing is secondary.
Both Deino and Zweilous have the Hustle ability, which reduces their own accuracy for attack. Hydreigon has Levitate, which makes it immune to ground attacks.
The following are also starters that have dragon typings, but they cannot be obtained when you use a Dragon-type run. Kingdra evolved from Seadra from the Water-type line, and Noibat and Noivern have Dragon typings, but they are for the Flying-type line.
The Dragon’s Den
If you want to get a ton of Dragon-type Pokemon in Pokemon This Gym of Mine, then the Dragon’s Den is the place to go.
To get to the Dragon’s Den, just head west from Umbal City. You will exit to Miser Marsh, then just head north and enter the cave; you’re inside the Dragon’s Den.
Druddigon
The highest encounter here is Druddigon at a 30% encounter rate. It’s a single Pokemon that doesn’t evolve with the abilities Rough Skin or Sheer Force.
Rough Skin damages enemy Pokemon who make contact, and Sheer Force removes additional effects from a move but increases damage.
Axew to Haxorus
The second highest encounter is Axew, which is also at 30% but only for Ranks 1 to 2. Rank 3 moving forward reduces its encounter rate to 20%.
Axew’s first evolved form can be encountered at Rank 3 and so on, but only at 10%. Its final evolution, Haxorus, can only be obtained by evolving Fraxure. All three of them have abilities such as Rivalry or Mold Breaker.
Drampa

Coming in at the third-highest encounter is another single-form Dragon type, which is Drampa. It has a 20% encounter rate for all Ranks.
It has the abilities Berserk and Sap Sipper. Berserk boosts its attack when it gets hit, and Sap Sipper boosts its attack when hit by Grass-type moves.
Dratini to Dragonite
Dratini is in fourth place with only a 9% encounter rate, and it becomes 5% at Rank 5 onwards. Evolve it to obtain Dragonair, but Dragonair can also be encountered in the Dragon’s Den at Rank 5 but only at 1%.
Obtaining its final evolution (Dragonite) can only be done by evolving a Dragonair.
Jangmo-o to Kommo-o
The second-to-last Dragon-type in the den with a 6% encounter rate is Jangmo-o. It becomes a 5% encounter rate at Rank 5.
Evolving it to Hakamo-o is the way to go unless you want to catch one at Rank 5 with a 1% encounter rate. Its final form, and the only way to obtain a Kommo-o, is by evolving it. All three of them are Dragon/Fighting type.
Dreepy to Dragapult
The lowest encounter rate in the Dragon’s Den is Dreepy at 5% and later becomes 4% at Rank 5 onwards. Dreepy’s first evolved form, Drakloak, can also be encountered in the Dragon’s Den at a 1% rate on Rank 5.
Its final form, Dragapult, can be obtained by evolving Drakloak only. All three of them have the Dragon/Ghost typing.
Umbal Aron to Aggron
This Aron is unique to Pokemon This Gym of Mine. It evolves to the same form, but it is just labeled as Umbal.
All three forms, from Aron to Lairon to Aggron, are classified as Steel/Dragon. They are available at the Cavern of Knowledge.
Aron has a 30% encounter rate to 20% in Rank 3, and Lairon is encountered at 10% in Rank 3 and 30% in Rank 5. Umbal Aggron can only be obtained by evolving Umbal Lairon.
Trapinch to Flygon
Catching a Trapinch can be done in the Badlands. It isn’t a Dragon type, but you have to evolve it into Vibrava and later on Flygon.
Flygon can only be obtained by evolving a Vibrava, and except for Trapinch, all of them are Ground/Dragon.
Trapinch is encountered at a 15% rate from Rank 1, and it becomes 10% on Rank 3 and is no longer available on Rank 5.
Vibrava is available to catch at a 5% rate on Rank 3 and increases to 15% at Rank 5.
Goomy to Goodra
Goomy is available to catch at Miser Marsh, which is just west of Umbal City. It has a 6% encounter rate. It drops to 5% at Rank 3 onward, and its evolved form, Sliggoo, can be obtained at a 1% encounter rate from Rank 3 and higher.
Its final evolution, Goodra, can only be obtained by evolving Sliggoo at level 50.
Turtonator

This lone Fire/Dragon type is located in the Molten Steel Pit. It can be encountered at a 5% rate for all Ranks. It has the ability Shell Armor, which blocks critical hits from enemies.
