This cheat is very useful because you don’t have to grind and waste your life away. 

The EXP Modifier cheat works similarly to the Rare Candies cheat in terms of its purpose.

What Is an EXP Modifier Cheat?

The EXP Modifier cheat is a cheat code that gives your Pokemon an incredible amount of experience.

Basically, after you beat a Pokemon, the cheat will make the experience flow right in. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Trainer or Wild Pokemon battle, since the cheat will always work the same.

There are certain variations of the cheat depending on the game you’re playing.

For example, Pokemon FireRed has the standard unlimited EXP cheat as its EXP Modifier, unlike Pokemon White that features a x200 EXP cheat, as you will see below. 

This cheat also doesn’t require a Master Code to work.

Infinite EXP Cheat Type

This EXP Modifier cheat code will simply give the Pokemon an unlimited amount of EXP.

Even if the EXP is stated (i.e. OBTAINED 23 EXP), the amount you get is endless. You have to turn this one off so that the EXP will stop coming in.

Multiplication EXP Cheat Type

This EXP Modifier cheat isn’t infinite but more like calculated.

For example, a cheat could be a x20 multiplier, which means that the experience you get multiplied x20.

There are other multipliers going up to x200, but it all depends on the game.

How to Activate the EXP Modifier Cheat

Whether the EXP Modifier cheat you use is an infinite or multiplication type, the methods for activating them are the same.

Does the EXP Modifier cheat have bugs?

There isn’t any known bug for all the games. Just turn off the cheat if you don’t want to get any more EXP.

Is it alright to use the cheat?

It is alright to use it. Considering that the cheat is used on ROMs, there is no way to get those Pokemon into the competitive scene. It’s all fun and games when you simply think about it.

Are Infinite EXP cheats better than Multipliers?

The case is that a game will usually just have one type of cheat. It would either be infinite or multiplier, so you don’t need to worry about choosing.

How do I stop my Pokemon from getting EXP Points?

Some emulators do not let you stop from acquiring EXP even if the cheat is disabled or removed. To stop your Pokemon from gaining EXP Points, where disabling cheats might not work, navigate to the emulator’s root directory and delete the cheat file.

For instance, in Visual Boy Advance, this is typically a “.cheat” file. Once removed, restart your emulator for the changes to take effect.

  1. Not sure if I’m missing something but I can’t find where it finds the differentiation between the max level glitch and a smaller multiplier. It mentions you can do a x20 multiplier but no mention which one it is or even how to make it x20 or just x2. Not sure if it was modular or not. Is there a way to make this for minor amounts like x2 or x4? or is it perhaps locked by the game. I’m looking for FireRed and Emerald atm. Thx

      The EXP modifier cheat isn’t a perfect or fully customizable cheat. In most cases, it’s not modular—meaning you can’t freely choose between x2, x4, x20, etc., unless a specific version of the code was created for that exact multiplier.

      For FireRed and Emerald, most available EXP cheats either give a very high multiplier or trigger the max level effect after battle. The result can also vary depending on how much EXP you earn in that battle, which is why it sometimes feels inconsistent.

      At the moment, there’s no built-in way in those standard cheats to fine-tune the multiplier to smaller values like x2 or x4 unless someone specifically created a separate code for it. Hope my answer helps.

      If you are still looking for a code, I can confirm that 014432DA while using a gameshark will boost your pokemon up to level 100 after defeating a pokemon. Just be warned that you will be spammed with your pokemon trying to learn every ability under the sun.
