Pokemon LeafGreen Cheat Codes for V1.0 and V1.1

Many of these cheats can be also found in our Pokemon FireRed Cheats collection, since LeafGreen and FireRed share the same game engine and core mechanics. However, it’s important to note that some cheat codes behave differently depending on the game version you’re using.

Be aware

Try not to use or activate too many cheats at once; doing so could confuse the game about how to handle the changes and cause various glitches such as random crashing, freezing, and messing with your saved data.

All the listed cheats work on almost all GBA emulators, but we recommend using MyBoy GBA Emulator or the paid version if possible for Android users. For PC users, using mGBA or VBA is highly recommended.

For iOS users, we highly recommend using the Delta emulator as this the most stable emulator nowadays for iPhone and iPad users.

For Myboy free version users, see this guide on How To Enter Multiple Liner Cheat Codes on My Boy Free Version.

Pokemon LeafGreen versions used – V1.0 and V1.1

Please note that LeafGreen v1.0, we conducted our tests using the 1637 – Pokemon LeafGreen (U) (Independent) version.

We found some cheat codes that work for Pokemon LeafGreen V1.1, but there aren’t as many compared for V1.0.

Most cheat codes were originally made for V1.0, so only a few of them work on V1.1. If you’re using V1.1, some cheats might not work properly or could cause glitches, so please be aware and pick the correct cheat for your LeafGreen version.

Cheats we recommend using

There are plenty of useful Pokemon Leafgreen cheats, but the ones listed below are what we recommend the most.

  • Rare candy
  • Master ball or Easy catch cheat
  • Walk through walls
  • Wild pokemon modifier
  • Infinite money

For Delta Emulator Users

To ensure proper functionality of the cheat, ensure that it is assigned to the correct cheat type (Action Replay, Codebreaker, or GameShark). In most cases, you will only need to use Action Replay or Codebreaker. For your convenience, we have included cheat type information for each cheat.

For cheats that require master code such as the Pokemon encounter, make sure to add the master code first, before the Pokemon cheat code. (See screenshot below)

Leafgreen delta ios cheats
Example cheat for the legendary Pokemon with Master code added.
Leafgreen legendary cheat delta
The legendary Pokemon encounter cheat

Important: I’ve observed that even when a cheat is deleted from the cheat list, it still remains active in the game. To ensure complete removal, after deleting the cheat from the list, save your game progress, and then close your emulator. Reopen the game, and all previously applied cheats will now be completely removed.

Conclusion

Pokemon LeafGreen is not as popular as FireRed or Emerald, but the game is still one of the best Pokemon games.

Cheating is famous in LeafGreen and obviously in other Pokemon GBA games, but sometimes it won’t help if you seek a much more challenging experience.

For extra fun and excitement, cheat codes are used, and with the list of Pokemon LeafGreen cheats above, you can fulfill your LeafGreen gaming needs.

If you’re not familiar with Pokemon rom hacks yet, we highly recommend checking and playing some of the best Pokemon ROM hacks, and they are way better than these regular Pokemon GBA games. You can always browse our site for our listings, and we have dozens of them.

    • Hello there, Yap. If you are referring to the “Catch/Steal Trainer’s Pokemon” cheat, unfortunately it will work only on LeafGreen V1.0 and there’s no code available for v1.1 if that’s the version you are using.

      Reply
    • Welcome here, Eloise. Can you check which version of Pokemon LeafGreen you’re using? If it’s v1.1, then that’s most likely the reason the cheat isn’t working. Most of the cheats on this page were tested on the US v1.0 version and may not work properly on v1.1. We have several cheats v1.1 that you can use and I labelled them. Also, let me know which emulator you’re using, as that can sometimes affect cheat compatibility as well.

  1. I think I need a little help with the Wild Pokemon Modifier cheat. I followed the instructions for installing using Delta, but it doesn’t seem to work. I am trying to encounter Golem which per the document is 004C. I wrote the ‘Master Code’ as it’s own cheat first: 0000BE99 000A / 1003DAE6 0007. After this I made a separate cheat for the encounter: 83007CEE 004C. However, it doesn’t work. Could I get some help on this?

  2. Uhhh I’m almost afraid to double check but walk through walls v1.1 didn’t work (JohnGBAC) it made me unable to walk/move and deleted all other cheats from my cheats menu

    • Hey Tex, welcome here. Unfortunately we haven’t tested these cheats on JohnGBAC. If possible, use MyBoy as it usually worked with cheats.

  3. The rare candy cheat just won’t activate for me , I put everything in correctly and the master ball cheats works fine but the rare candy doesn’t pop in my pc inventory

    Reply
    • Hey there! Try disabling all other cheats and enable only the Rare Candy cheat. Then go in and out of the PC a few times and check if it appears. If it still doesn’t work, restart your emulator with all cheats disabled, then close it. After that, reopen the game and reapply the Rare Candy cheat. Hope this helps!

  4. Is there a way I can start my game with a shiny charmander that actually has my trainer id so when it reaches level 10 it doesn’t disobey orders when commanded to battle? I need the code for this if possible please

    Reply
    • Hi Scott, welcome here. To get a shiny Charmander as your starter, try activating the shiny cheat before receiving your starter Pokemon and it should do the trick. As for having it tied to your Trainer ID to prevent disobedience, that part is a bit tricky and I cannot guarantee the cheat will cover that specific condition. What I can suggest is to save your game before activating any cheat so you can always revert back if something does not go as planned. Feel free to experiment and let me know how it goes in the comments.

  5. On the wild Pokemon encounter cheat the number and letter for Koffing are switched. Right now its 00D6 = Koffing, but i think its supposed to be 006D = Koffing.

    • Hey Tobi, thanks for the heads up on the code being switched. Yes you’re correct, and I have already fixed it and I really appreciate your help to improve the list.

  6. How do I enable the cheats though ? Is it just automatically put in or do I have to press some buttons to enable it? (Ex: Pressing Up + R)

  7. I try using the wild Pokemon modifier cheat for 1.1 leaf green on delta emulator so that I can catch a charmander to have in addition to a squirtle. It works and I encounter one but when I go to use the pokeball it just goes black. I have to fully quit the emulator. Not really sure what I am doing wrong if anything.

    Reply
    • Hi Cgoode, welcome to Pokemoncoders. This issue usually happens when two or more cheats are activated at the same time. The game can get confused and start glitching.

I recommend fully closing and restarting your emulator to clear any previous cheat effects. After that, enable only one cheat at a time, and disable it once you’re done using it. Restarting the emulator from time to time also helps keep things stable. Give that a try and let me know how it goes.

  8. Hoping someone is still active here. I’m wondering if there’s a version of the item modifier cheats for 1.0. I’m looking to add 99x antidotes, poke balls and rare candies. I’m running the USA, Europe version on mGBA for PC.

    Reply
    • Hey Mo, check the “Item Modifier Cheats” section, that’s for 1.0 and it should work with your LeafGreen. Since you are using mGBA, the cheat should work fine.

      Reply
    • Hey Oliver, there are two different shiny cheats, one for v1.0 and one for v1.1. We were able to collect working codes for both versions. In your case, please try activating the shiny cheat that matches the other version and see if that works for you. Hope this helps.

  9. So. I tried inputting the codes for the wild pokemon modified (both master code and whatever wild pokemon encounter I desire) as instructed for my Leaf Green Version 1.0 specifically for that version on John GBA Lite. Those didn’t work, said they the master code is invalid, so I had to scour around for a code that’s accepted. Tried enabling and putting them to the test, but all I got were regularly programmed wild encounter no matter what location I’m in… I don’t think this is working. The codes I mean…

    • Hey Danes, welcome here. May I know which specific cheat you’re trying to activate? All the cheats listed here are well tested, and as long as you are using the correct LeafGreen version, they should work without issue.

  11. I’m so confused… When I use the infinite money cheat, I put in this

    00000554000A
    101DC9B00007
    830050000000
    830050020000

And then I do the cheat code. I activate it and it doesn’t do anything. BTW I am on version 1.0 of leaf green, all of your other cheats that I have tried have worked for me except for this one. Please help, I have no idea why it isn’t working.

    Reply
    • Hey there, that’s a bit strange. Since the other cheats are working for you, I’m confident the infinite money cheat should work too. Have you tried restarting your emulator to clear the cheats in your settings? Sometimes this alone fixes the problem. If it still doesn’t work, let me know which emulator and game version you’re using so I can help you further.

      Reply
        • Hi Sunny, make sure to add the master code first, then add the money cheat code. If your emulator has an auto cheat detection feature, you can try using that instead of the Code Breaker option. Give it a try and let us know if it works for you.

  12. So I found a pretty funny error when messing around with the shiny code,if you use it to force a shiny starter and you overlevel that starter, it won’t obey in the first battle, atleast as far as I’ve seen, maybe it just doesn’t obey altogether for the whole game, not prescicely all that harmful but still

    Reply
    • Hello Desdren, welcome here. You can simply add the cheat, and throw a normal Pokeball to any Pokemon and it’ll work, no need for button combination to activate it. The cheat is for V1.0, in fact majority of our cheats works perfectly on 1.0

      • Sir can you give easy pokemon catch cheat for V 1.1 your given code is not working or can you also give me moon fossil cheat code and 1$ pokemon mart item cheat code.

        Reply
        • Hey Mohneesh, welcome to Pokemoncoders. Could you please confirm which item you are referring to? LeafGreen does not have a Moon Fossil—there is only a Moon Stone. For fossils, the available ones are Root, Claw, Helix, and Dome.

Also, please note that FireRed/LeafGreen v1.1 has very limited working cheats. Unfortunately, the $1 PokeMart item cheat is not available for v1.1 either. I’ve made an update to the page adding several items for 1.1. Hope this helps.

  13. Hallo, I downloaded delta emulator in the AppStore and wanted to play leaf green, using the cheats on this website I ran into issues:
    Items in computer work fine,
    Shiny works fine,
But Pokemon encounters don’t work for me. Is it because the master code and Pokemon codes run on different engines?
    Someone please help me

    Reply
    • Hello Pascal, welcome to Pokemoncoders, and thank you for sharing these details—they really help in troubleshooting your issue. Since the shiny encounter and item cheats are working for you, it’s very likely that you are using LeafGreen v1.0. To get the Wild Pokemon Modifier cheat working, make sure to use the correct master code for your version and set it as Code Breaker. The Pokemon codes are also Code Breaker—for example, use 83007CEE 0006 to encounter Charizard.

  15. When using the shiny cheat, for some reason every pokemon is a female? I know gender doesn’t matter especially in the older games, but why does that happen?

    Reply
    • Hey Max, thanks for dropping by. Unfortunately, that’s one of the downsides of using the cheat—it often locks the gender and nature of the Pokemon. Restarting the game might help change it, but it can be a bit time-consuming.

    • If your LeafGreen version is v1.1, the cheat should work for you. However, if your game glitched after using it, there’s a chance other cheats were still enabled. Enable only one cheat at a time, or you might need to restart your emulator. Having multiple cheats active at the same time often causes glitches and unexpected issues.

      Reply
    • Hi there Deltawolf, the cheat works on LeafGreen V1.0. If you have V1.1 then most likely the cheat won’t work for you.

    • Hello Tanker, thanks for joining us! May I ask which GBA emulator you’re using to play the game?

The issue you’re experiencing is likely caused by your emulator still detecting the cheat as active, even after it’s been turned off. To fix this:

      1. Disable the cheat.
      2. Save your game using the in-game save option (not save states).
      3. Exit the game and restart your emulator.
      4. Reopen the game.

Just make sure to enable only one cheat at a time to avoid such problems. If you encounter a bad egg, you can get rid of it by depositing it in the Box located on your PC. Also, try to avoid using those cheats that you suspect might have caused the issue.

For shiny, i can only encounter shiny female pkm, any code for changing gender or to encounter the gender that i want?

    • Hey GD, unfortunately that’s not possible with the shiny cheat. On the other hand, it’s not recommended breeding a Pokemon obtained through cheats.

        • Hi Kashimo, we actually tested the complete Pokedex cheat, but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite buggy and caused various issues. That’s the main reason why I decided not to include it in the list. Thank you for understanding.

  30. Hi there,

I am using the Delta app on iOS. The legendary pokemon encounter and the wild pokemon modifier are not working for me. I was able to do the rare candy cheat. I tried entering the master code first and then the individual pokemon together in the same code or doing them separately but neither are working. Please advise if I should try something I haven’t. I did swap it between action replay, code breaker and GameShark- no luck.

    • Hi Shane, thanks for coming here. May I know which LeafGreen rom version are you using? We have tested these codes with the 1637 – Pokemon LeafGreen (U) (Independent) version and most likely it should also work to other Leafgreen English versions. For the legendary cheat, enter the master code first and then the legendary code. Make sure to put these in the CodeBreaker cheat section. See this, I have updated the page for Delta users.

  31. Hi, I have a problem because I can’t use the cheat “wild pokemon modifier” I put the master codes and the code I want for pokemon and it doesn’t work (I’m playing pokemon leaf green on visual boy advance)

    • Hey Dawid, thanks for coming here. Here are my suggestions. Make sure to set the cheat type to Codebreaker and it should work. Also, I’m not sure which VBA version you are using but this VBA version works best with cheats and that’s what we are using for several years and I recomemend using it. Another thing, please note that we use 1637 – Pokemon LeafGreen (U) (Independent) when doing our test with these cheats, however, most likely the cheats will also work with other English Leafgreen roms. Let me know if my answer helps.

  32. Hi there.

I am using the new Delta emulator for iOS that released recently. I have downloaded a Pokémon leaf green rom and I am attempting to use your codes, however I am unsuccessful. The wild pokemon modifier isn’t working. I am creating a cheat selecting code breaker and putting in the master code and then creating another cheat selecting code breaker and entering the code for the pokemon (zapdos). I have also tried entering all 3 lines in of code into 1 cheat and still no luck. Please help!

        • The issue with using a website instead of an emulator while playing a game is that many features, including cheating, are limited. If you wish to fully take advantage of using cheats, I highly recommend switching to an emulator.

          • alright but one question can my downloads from the site work for the emulator and also please recommend an emulator

          • wait nvm it works thanks bro your website is reliable because you actually respond and give out tips and pointers

          • I’m just trying my best to help new players. Like myself, I enjoy playing these games, and I’d love to share my knowledge to assist others in any way I can.🙂

    • Thank you, Angelo, for joining us. Enabling the cheat for all badges can be a bit challenging. To activate it, simply enter and exit any door or building five times. Afterwards, check to see if the badges have appeared. I’m not a Pizza Boy user, I use MyBoy but I guess the same method applies to many emulator. Let me know if this trick works for you.

    • Thank you for visiting TechnoPlayZ. It’s possible that the problem lies with your Leafgreen rom version. Which version are you currently using? Cheats are known to work on V1.0, but may not be functional on V1.1 which is commonly used.

    • You need to make separate cheats make one with 0000BE99000A and save that slot then make another with 1003DAE60007 then save make another with the pokemons code and it should work

        • Try putting a space at last 4 digits of the cheat, it should look like this 0000BE99 000A . Also, remove any space before or after the code. The reason for that is emulators are case sensitive. Try it and let me know if this works.

    • This literally happens to me every day even without this code the reason is not because of the cheat all you have to do is save the game and open it again then BOOM! You can move this just means you lost control so you have to reopen the game.

  47. The Master Codes for meeting specific wild pokemon, are not compatible with LeafGreen. I had tried it on multiple dated rom files for LeafGreen in VBA (as it likes to tell you if a cheat isn’t made for the game itself that your trying to input cheat code in). Only has an issue with the Master Code. I’ve tried many of the pokemon on the list (not all) and every one I’ve tried had no issues being put in. Without said Master Code, they alas, do not function.

  48. Hello,
I’m looking for a Shiny code that works, unfortunately this one doesn’t work for me and i was hoping to get a shiny starter, i have an original MAX action replay for my Gameboy and is working fine. I have come across one shiny code that does work but not with ”gift” Pokémon, can you help me with my dilemma?

  49. Hey! I’m wondering if you could help me.

I’m trying out the wild pokemon modifier and it isn’t working. The other cheats are working so it must be an error on my part but I’ll tell you what I’ve done.

I have 3 other codes already set up. One being the guaranteed shiny chance.
I set up one code being the master code being
    0000BE99000A
    1003DAE60007
This is the mastercode that I have entered in first
The next code is the Bulbasaur code.
    83007CEE0001

Is this the right kind of formatting? I directly copypasted them in, and did different “add gameshark” for both of them.

If the formatting is fine then how do I get an updated version of the leaf green game?

    Answer whatever you can. Thanks!

    • Scouring the internet for a functional shiny encounter cheat code on original GBA Gameshark hardware for Leaf Green. You wouldn’t happen to still have that code portion???

      Reply
    • Please check your game version. These cheats work ONLY on (v1.0) LeafGreen.

If you have the same version but the code still not available, it might be your emu. Try using VBA or MyBoy, run as admin or allow this threat on your pc/laptop.

(in my case I just downloaded the newest version of the emulator and idk why but somehow my antivirus says that my emu is a threat).
