Pokemon SoulGold is a decompilation rom hack using the pokeemerald-expansion engine. Since the game is a decomp, most standard Pokemon Emerald cheats we know do not work. Unfortunately, cheats for walking through walls, shiny Pokemon encounters, or wild Pokemon modifiers are not available. Despite that, we were able to get some working codes that could still be handy for your game. Make sure you do not overuse these cheats and disable after using.

  • Pokemon SoulGold is an emerald-based GBA ROM hack created by rahtak, built on the Pokemon Emerald engine using pokeemerald-expansion.
  • The game is based on unoffical expansion port of Heart and Soul – but NOT connected to the official Heart and Soul 2.0 version.
  • The game features expanded johto with new areas to explore, and expect the best experience while playing the game.
  • Modern features like mega evolution, reusable TMs, day/night cycle, fairy type and more.
  • New systems: Hidden Grottos that reset daily, Boss Pokemon with multiple health bars,

Do Cheats Work in Pokemon SoulGold?

  1. Short answer: Some cheats do work, but many standard cheats do not.
  2. The reason: Due to SoulGold being a decomp rom hack, it is heavily edited and rebuilt from source code. Making cheats extremely challenging to uncover.

Before You Use Any Pokemon SoulGold Cheat

  1. Back up your save file: Not only the save state – The actual save file.
  2. Save in-game first: Do not use the save state.
  3. Use the correct ROM base.
  4. Use one cheat at a time. Adding multiple cheats at once on decomp hacks is a surefire way to trigger game freezing and force restarts.
  5. You can pair some cheats together. This is usually not recommended. However, some specific cheats work well when paired. Instructions will be provided if a cheat is meant for pairing.
  6. Turn cheats off after using. Leaving cheats enabled will glitch your game.
  7. Pick the correct cheat code for your version of SoulGold. Pokemon ROM hacks are updated from time to time, and their cheat codes may change as well.

Important: You can find a CodeBreaker version of this infinite PP cheat online. It is short and works with more GBA emulators. This infinite PP version is more reliable. It preserves each move’s original PP and will never run out. A move that starts with 5/5 will remain 5/5. A move that starts with 40/40 will remain 40/40. When you turn this cheat off, PP deducts normally. It also works for both players in double battles. Opponents will still lose PP as usual.

How to activate:

  1. Add all three lines as one cheat and enable it.
  2. Visit the Battle Frontier Exchange Service Corner.
  3. Choose an item or decoration costing more than 99 BP, such as the 128-BP Lapras Doll.
  4. Confirm the purchase. The game will set your balance to 99, then reject the purchase for insufficient BP—so nothing is deducted.
  5. Exit the conversation and disable the cheat.
  6. Speak to the clerk again to verify the displayed balance is 99 BP.
  7. Save normally to make the balance permanent.

Pokemon SoulGold Cheats Not Working? Try This

  1. You probably used normal emerald cheat codes – Standard emerald cheats do not work on decomp rom hacks like Pokemon SoulGold, the game is built using different engine. Use only the code found above in our verified list.
  2. Wrong cheat type. In most cases, cheats can only CodeBreaker or GameShark/Action Replay. If your emulator gives invalid cheat error, switch to another cheat type. Many emulators support auto cheat detection- better use this.
  3. You enabled too many cheats. Enabling multiple cheat at once can cause the game to get confused due to multiple changes applied to its game memory. Disable everything, save your game progress, and restart your emulator.

    • Hey Corey, welcome here. Thanks for reporting this. Unfortunately, we don’t test cheats on a modded PS Vita, so I can’t confirm how mGBA handles these codes on that device.

      The Rare Candy cheat was tested specifically on SoulGold v1.0.6.3, so the game version you’re using is correct. Since you’ve already double-checked the code, the issue could be related to cheat compatibility on the PS Vita setup. If possible, try the same code on mGBA on PC, Manic Emu or Pizza Boy to see if it works there.

        • In most cases, CodeBreaker cheats continue to use the same codes even after several game updates, while Action Replay/GameShark codes tend to change between versions. So, for the meantime, I recommend using the CodeBreaker cheats.

    • Use retroarch core – mGBA but before you do use retroarch incase , watch YouTube videos on installing retroarch… After that there is a issue were you need to memories or write down the codes you want on DESCRIPTION and CODES separately. First action to do in adding cheats is to tap you’ll see *cheat #0 N/A *, tap and enter your description and code and Tap ENABLE before existing , then tap you’ll see * cheat #1 N/A * and so on , then tap APPLY CHANGES .

          How to activate:

          1. Add all three lines as one cheat and enable it.
          2. Visit the Battle Frontier Exchange Service Corner.
          3. Choose an item or decoration costing more than 99 BP, such as the 128-BP Lapras Doll.
          4. Confirm the purchase. The game will set your balance to 99, then reject the purchase for insufficient BP—so nothing is deducted.
          5. Exit the conversation and disable the cheat.
          6. Speak to the clerk again to verify the displayed balance is 99 BP.
          7. Save normally to make the balance permanent.

    • Can you try this on Manic Emu instead? The game developer has a list of recommended emulators, and Delta isn’t included. However, I believe some of the cheats on the list should still work on Delta.

    • I’ve already updated the codes and majority of the list should now work for 1.0.6. You may need to refresh the page or clear your browser’s cache to see the latest version of the cheats.

      Master ball
      Rare candy
      EV vitamins from normal to ex
      IV feathers working too
      Gold bottle cap
      Healing items like full Restore max Revive
      Max repel
      Etc…

  22. I’m playing on MGBA but cheats keep saying “Some cheats couldn’t be added. Make sure they’re reformatted correctly”. :( I’m using the last version.

  24. The “Access PC” code freezes the game,just as soon as I press select.
    It is the only code enabled.
    Game version 1.0.5
    Using mGBA emulator.
    Code type set to “autodetect”
    Have also tried re-adding it as gameshark.
    Same result.

  25. On Manic EMU, SoulGold v1.0.4.5.
    Tried the “cost 1 poke dollar” cheat and it didn’t work. It decreased the amounts (mints went from 7800 to 3000) but then game freezes when I go to purchase.
    Also tried the “money never decreases” and it didn’t work.

    • Can you try the codes? I’ve made an update and I believe the cheats will now work on many GBA emulators including Manic EMU. There’s a newer version of the game as well, the v1.0.6 and I also have the codes provided for that version.

  26. The Rare Candy cheat isn’t working. I’m playing on version 1.0.4.5. I copy the code and enter it—it even says “Cheats set!”—but when I go to look for the Rare Candy, I simply can’t find it anywhere: not in the PC, the bag, or the Mart. Do I need a Master Code or something like that? Also, whenever I select the cheat type “GameShark or Action Replay,” it always switches back to Codebreaker after I set the code…

    • May I know which GBA emulator you’re using? This information can help me troubleshoot the issue more accurately. Emulators handle cheat codes differently, which is one of the reasons why a cheat may work perfectly on one emulator but fail on another.

  30. Hello, none of these codes are working. I’m on delta and I’m trying to use the rare candy and item modifier in the poke mart and it’s not working! Please can you advise? Thanks!

    • Welcome back, Eloise. It’s like that you are using the latest version of the game. I’m currently working to update the codes. Stay tuned for updates. Btw, as far as I know, the author of the game does not recommend using Delta, try playing the game on Manic Emu instead.
