Pokemon Platinum Cheats: Action Replay Codes for NDS

You are about to discover the most popular Pokemon Platinum cheats. But before we proceed, let’s talk about first the things needed to activate these cheats successfully.

Featured Videos

First off, Pokemon Platinum is a Nintendo DS game, and to use cheats you need a DS emulator that supports action replay codes. Whichever device you’re going to use to play (Mobile or PC) there’s an emulator available for you.

Recommended Nintendo DS Emulators
If you’re playing Pokemon Platinum on PC, there are several good DS Emulators for PC available and the one I can recommend is DeSmuME.

On the other hand, for mobile devices running Android, I highly recommend using DraStic DS Emulator and Delta Emulator for iOS users. While for MAC users, we recommend using Desmume or Delta Emulator for M1 and onward users.

Above mentioned DS emulators work best with action replay codes without leaving the capability to offer the best DS gaming experience to gamers.

Please keep in mind: Before activating any of these cheats, it pays to remember these few tips and warnings.

When using these cheats, always check if your Pokemon turns into a Bad Egg. If that happens, do not save your game progress. Immediately close your emulator and reopen the game. If you believe you’re ready to use the cheats, feel free to proceed.

Delta Emulator for iOS

For those using Delta Emulator for iOS, we have great news for you! We are happy to inform you that these cheats listed below work flawlessly in your emulator. Please take note of the key combinations and ensure they are followed correctly in order to activate the cheat.

If you encounter any issues with any of the cheats listed, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment and I’ll be more than happy to assist you.

Common Cheating Issue

Cheats not working? We’ve noticed that many readers are having trouble with cheats not working, even when using the English version of Pokemon Platinum. In most cases, the problem is not with the cheat itself, but with the emulator’s key settings.

For example, DeSmuME on desktop has its own key mappings, and many cheats need specific buttons (like L, R, or Select) to be pressed to activate. On mobile DS emulators, these buttons are usually mapped correctly by default, but on desktop, the keyboard buttons are different.

To fix this, just go to your emulator settings and remap the keys so you know exactly which ones act as L, R, or other required buttons. Once you’ve set the correct keys, the cheats should work properly. See this guide on How to Configure Buttons on DeSmuME.

How It Works: This cheat grants a large amount of EXP to your Pokemon. However, there is no way to stop the EXP gain once used. For example, I applied the cheat to my level 4 Shinx, and it continued gaining EXP until it reached level 51 and evolved into Luxio.

Use this cheat only if you want to quickly level up your Pokemon to level 50. Otherwise, the x8 EXP cheat above should be sufficient.

Input the code and follow the steps below.

  • Step 1. The Pokemon has to be in the PC first.
  • Step 2. Go to the Pokemon PC and select MOVE POKEMON.
  • Step 3. Go to the Box where the Pokemon you want to duplicate is.
  • Step 4. Select the Pokemon and make sure that the cursor is over on the MOVE option.
  • Step 5. Press Select+Start+A or you could hold Select and Start first and then press A.
  • Step 6. If you did all of that properly, the Pokemon should be held by your hand.
  • Step 7. Now, press L+R at the same time.
  • Step 8. If you did that right, the screen will move to the left or right box which doesn’t really matter which one.
  • Step 9. Go back to the Box where the Pokemon originally was.
  • Step 10. If everything was done properly, you would have the original Pokemon still in the box and the one you had on your had is the duplicate.
  • Step 11. Just place the duplicate anywhere and you’re done.

There really isn’t a proven glitch for this to happen. You can still place the same duplicates in the same box, and nothing bad will happen.

Wild Pokemon Modifier (with Level and Nature Modifier)

Input the code first and follow the steps listed below

  • Step 1.You need to open your Calculator on your Poketch (If you don’t have the Poketch yet, then you can’t use the Wild Pokemon Modifier Code)
  • Step 2.On the Calculator, press the specific Pokemon National Pokedex Number that you want to encounter. Let’s say Charizard’s National Pokedex Number is 006 so press 6 on the calculator.
  • Step 3.Press the L button based on your configuration.
  • Step 4.Now press the C on the calculator which will clear the screen thus removing the 6.
  • Step 5.The next thing to do is input the number of the level you want the Pokemon to have. Remember the levels are only from 1 to 100.
  • Step 6.Press R this time after you input the level.
  • Step 7.Press C on the Calculator again to clear the level number.
  • Step 8.The last part is to input the number of the desired Nature that you want the Wild Pokemon to have which is from 0 to 24. (The Nature List is provided below)
  • Step 9.Press Select this time to finish.
  • Step 10.Finally, hit the C on the calculator one last time.
  • Step 11.Now, just find a wild encounter to fight your modified Wild Pokemon.

It is also important to note that this cheat is also somewhat a Wild Pokemon level and Nature modifier. One important thing to note is that some of the codes for specific Pokemon may not cause the Pokemon to appear. This usually happens for Legendary Pokemon so you can just RUN from the battle if the Pokemon isn’t appearing.

How to use: After adding the cheat code above, Hold R while entering any entrances (doors, cave, buildings, etc..) to activate the code. Type the number you want into the Poketch Calculator and hold R while entering the new area.

Example: Referring to the screenshot above, I typed the number 160 in the Poketch Calculator to modify my character into Giratina.

Note: For this cheat to work, you must first obtain the Poketch Calculator from Jubilife City. The character will return to normal when you re-enter the entrance or press another number in your Poketch Calculator.

Getting Free Pokemon

There are some free Pokemon you can get without catching them when you read through these tips.

  • You can get an Eevee from Bebe in Hearthome City.
  • There is a man in a house in Veilstone that will give you a Porygon.
  • When you have the National Pokedex, you can go the Day Care Center, and the man will give you a Poliwag.
  • Cynthia will give you a Togepi Egg when you save the Bike Shop manager from the Eterna City Galactic Gym.
  • Riley will give you a Riolu Egg when complete his side quest.
  • A Hiker in Hearthome City will give you a Happiny Egg.

Money Making Trick

You can do this after you’ve beaten the game. Go to the Battle Cafe where you can fight against Gym Leaders over and over again. You can equip the Amulet Coin to get more money after battle.

Just fight the Gym Leaders over and over again since they don’t change their Pokemon lineup, and you’ll have an idea on how to counter them.

Final Thoughts

Misuse of cheat codes could lead to various problems like random crashing, game freezing, sudden restarts, and the worst case? These occur without notifying you to save your progress.

As a rule of thumb, save progress before applying any of the listed codes. Use them as you want but with extra caution.

Did the listed cheats work for you? Leave your feedback in the comment form below, and let’s discuss it.

    • Welcome here, Degon. To setup cheats in your MelonDS, go to System, make sure the “Enable Cheats” is checked, and click on “Setup cheat codes”. From there, you can add a category and add these codes.

  1. I tried to use some of these on MelonDS but don’t seem to have much luck. I don’t seem to get the masterballs cheat.

    • Activating cheats on MelonDS is quite tricky, but I received some excellent advice from our readers that could be helpful.

      1. In your MelonDS, go to Config -> Emu settings -> General and make sure the Console type is set to “DS” and not DSi.
      2. In Config -> Input and hotkeys -> DS Keypad, make sure the keys are properly mapped with the keys mentioned in the cheat guide.
      3. In System -> make sure the “Enable Cheats” is checked
      4. When adding a cheat, try deleting and re-adding the cheat code several times. Sounds strange method but this works in my experience.

Many of readers use DeSmuME as it fully supports cheating. However, the solutions above should work as well if you wish to stick to MelonDS.

Let me know if any of the above suggestions worked for you.

      • Hello! thank you for replying! I have found that reloading the game by pressing L+R+Select+start usually resolves cheats not working. Other than that and your help, I haven’t found any other ways to make it work more consistently.

        • Hello! Thank you for coming back and sharing your findings. That’s actually a very useful tip. Restarting the game with L + R + Select + Start seems to refresh the game’s memory in your emulator, which may explain why the cheats start working again afterward. I’m glad you were able to get the cheats working. Hopefully, this tip will help other players facing the same issue. Thanks again for the feedback and for helping the community! 😊

    • Hi Tunir, welcome here. May I know which DS emulator you are using? Perhaps you need to remap your emulator’s key settings and map it to the L and R buttons.

  3. Hi! Is it possible to have a cheat for specific items only, like I only want to obtain 6 leftovers. Because the “Unlock all items” cheat has a bug on the last item that shows “??” in quantity, the game freezes when you reach it. And you’re unable to save the game if you activate this cheat, so no post game after beating the elite 4.

    • Hey Rame, welcome here. Sorry, but we don’t have cheats for individual items yet, and I understand the issue you’re having with the Unlock All Items cheat. Whenever I find a working code for specific items, I’ll be sure to add it to the list. Thanks for your patience, and we’ll keep looking for better alternatives.

  4. I used the unlock all items cheat and had the “save error” come up yesterday and today seen another cheat code that’s supposed to fix that error from coming up. I have already tried using it but I can’t seem to get it to work. It says to add it to fix the issue. Do I add it to the all items cheat as one big one, or seperate and have both cheats activated at the same time? I’m using Delta on IOS

  5. How to do wild pokemon encounter modifier with level and nature on pokemon that have letters in their national pokedex number? There are only numbers on calculator so how would it work?

  6. I inserted the wild encounter for Giratina but so far no luck. Is it randomized alongside other pokemons or locked?

    • Hey there, Mr WorldWade! Thanks for dropping by. For this Wild Pokemon Modifier cheat, make sure you hold the SELECT button to activate it. Some players miss this step, so the cheat looks like it is not working. If it still does not work, here are a few quick checks:

      • Make sure your game is the US version of Pokemon Platinum, since that is what these cheats are tested on
      • Check your emulator controls and confirm that the SELECT button is correctly mapped
      • Try turning the cheat OFF, then ON again, then re-enter the game

If you are using multiple cheats at the same time, try using this one alone first. Some cheats do not work well together and may cause issues. Restarting your emulator may needed as well if you have applied several cheats already. Let me know how it goes 👍

    • Hey Benjamin, welcome here. The Max Happiness cheat on Platinum is a known troublemaker just like many other cheats when misused, it affects all Pokemon in your party, not just the one you’re targeting. A bad egg usually means the cheat collided with another active code or was applied with a conflicting cheat running at the same time. Disable all other cheats before using it, and only target one Pokemon at a time by following the exact activation steps (hold Start + Select while clicking the Pokemon’s Summary). Let me know how it goes.

  7. Hello, I Am Trying To Use The Max Friendship Cheat To Evolve My Buneary But It Is Making My Prinplup Into A Bad Egg??? Please Help Me!

    Reply
    • Hi Mattityahu, welcome here. I believe, the Max Friendship cheat on Platinum applies to your entire active party, not just to a specific Pokemon. That’s why your Piplup is turning into a bad egg, it’s catching the effect unintentionally. To fix, try this and hopefully this will work for you. Temporarily move Piplup out of your party or your other Pokemon, keep only Buneary, then activate the cheat. Once the friendship is maxed, disable the cheat before putting Piplup back. Also make sure no other cheats are active at the same time. Let me know if that clears it up.

    • Hi there, ReuvenMarks! This usually happens when the shiny cheat is stuck in memory and this is common to DS emulators. Try this quick fix:

      • Disable all cheats
      • Save progress, use the in-game saving function
      • Close and restart your emulator
      • Load your normal save file

That should return encounters to normal. If not, try loading an older save if possible before using the cheat. Hope it helps!

      Reply
  9. So I was trying out the shiny encounter cheats just to mess around, and now they are stuck on. I’ve deleted both codes from my emulator, tried my Trainer Card, tried L + A, tried closing and reopening the emulator. Every mon is still shiny.

Can anybody help? I don’t want all shiny pokemon. Especially if they aren’t legit. I discovered this when going to fight Giratina and I’m honestly disappointed. I prefer regular legendaries with the sole exception of Rayquaza.

    Reply
    • Save your game, turn off the shiny cheat, and reset, afterwards you should be getting regular Pokemon again, same thing happened to me. I’m on Delta, not sure what you’re using, but hopefully this helps.

  11. Oh my gosh! So sorry for wasting your time reading my previous comment!! I don’t need help anymore; I was finally able to get the cheat working. 😭

I’m leaving this message here mainly for other Delta users who might be struggling with the Pokedex All Seen and Captured cheat for the Sinnoh Dex specifically. I’m using the USA version fyi.

I read through previous responses here and saw one where PokeCoders mentioned enabling and disabling the cheat repeatedly for another emulator. That idea didn’t work for me directly, but it gave me the idea to start resetting things and trying again in different ways. After about 20 minutes of trying different tips and codes, it eventually worked! I’m honestly not 100% sure which step made the difference, but I’m listing everything I did in case it helps someone else.

    Things I tried:
    1. Deleted the cheat code I originally had saved.
    2. Closed the Delta app completely.
    3. Reopened Delta and added the cheat code again.
    4. Pressed and held the SELECT button multiple times in-game (since the code uses SELECT to activate).
    5. Also tried L + R + SELECT just in case.
    6. Disabled my other cheats temporarily. (Important: I did NOT delete them, I only unchecked/disabled them.)
    7. Looked for other versions of the cheat code on different websites and tested those.
    8. Every time I tried a new code, I repeated the process of deleting the old code → restarting the app → adding the new code again.

The last thing I did before it finally worked was use a code from another website that looked almost identical to the one here (idk if it’s completely the same or has differences), so I’m not sure if the code itself was the issue or if the repeated resetting and retrying finally triggered it.

After activating it, I pressed SELECT multiple times (I tapped and held the button repeatedly), and when I checked, the Pokédex updated, and it worked.

So if you’re using Delta and the cheat isn’t activating, don’t give up right away, try resetting the cheat, restarting the app, disabling other cheats temporarily, and trying again a few times.

Also, thank you and much love to PokeCoders for replying to people in the comments. Reading your responses to other users honestly helped me figure out what to try next. As a fellow Pokémon fan, I really appreciate it!

I hope both sides of all your pillows are cold in 2026 <3

(Make sure to press SELECT for this code)

  12. Hello!! I’m playing on Delta and I’m using the USA version. I’ve had no trouble with other cheats I’ve used so far until Pokedex All Seen and Captured. I’ve used the code and pressed select (tried both quick press and 5-second hold). I’ve even tried to use the code with L+R+Select; however, it’s still not working for me. If I did something wrong or if I missed a step, I’d like to know. Could I get any help with this please? I’d appreciate it so much. Thank you!

    • Hey Josiah, welcome here. The save-fix code for Platinum on Delta can sometimes fail if the cheat is entered in the wrong order or if other cheats are still active. Make sure all other cheats are completely disabled first, then apply the save-fix code on its own. Also double-check that you’re using the US version of the Platinum ROM, the code won’t work on other regional versions. Let me know if that helps.

    Reply
    • This issue freezing happens usually when you use multiple cheats. The reason is that, cheat effects may still be stuck in the game’s memory even after disabling a particular cheat. To fix, disable or delete all cheats in your emulator, save game progress using in-game saving, exit to your game completely and close your emulator. Reopen the emulator and load your normal save file. After that, enable only one cheat at a time.

    Reply
    • Hi Rich, it looks like the shiny cheat may still be stuck in memory, which can happen sometimes when using multiple cheats. Don’t worry, this is usually fixable. Try the steps below:

      1. Disable or delete all cheats in your emulator
      2. Save using your in-game save (if it still allows it) or keep your current state
      3. Exit the game completely
      4. Close the emulator
      5. Reopen the emulator and load your normal save file (not the save state if possible)

This process refreshes the game and clears any cheats still running in the background.

If you still can’t save in-game, try loading an older save state from before you activated the shiny cheat, then repeat the steps above. After that, use cheats one at a time and disable them once you’re done.

    • Hey Tobi, thanks for coming here and sharing that information. Since you’re using Pokemon Platinum (DE), that explains the issue. Unfortunately, these cheats are tested to work only with the English version of Pokémon Platinum, and they usually won’t function correctly on non-English releases. If possible, I recommend switching to the English version to make the most of these cheats.

It was initially fun to progress with the desired pokemons and skill set, but when I reached the Heartrome city and tried the pokemon contest, during the acting round of training/actual contest, after all first moves are performed and results are calculated for that round, the game freezes and doesn’t move on to the next round. That was such a great disappointment. Will either restart the game and play without cheats this time or just give up playing Pokémon Platinum.

    • Hello Sravan, it looks like you’re experiencing glitches after activating multiple cheats, which is a fairly common issue. To fix this, you’ll need to clear your emulator’s cheat settings.

Try disabling or deleting all cheats first, then save your game using the in-game save (not save states) and restart your emulator. This usually clears any previous cheat effects. After that, reapply only one cheat at a time to avoid the problem from happening again. Let me know if this works for you.

This helps clear any remaining cheat effects that may still be active in the background. Once reopened, hopefully everything should return to normal. If not, try to locate the cheat file generated by your emulator and delete it.

    • Hi Murillo, welcome! That issue is quite common with DS emulators, including Delta. What’s happening is that the emulator keeps the cheat effect active even after it’s turned off.

Here’s what you can do to fix it:

      1. Disable all cheats in your cheat list.
      2. Save your game progress using the in-game save (not save state).
      3. Completely close Delta, then reopen it and reload your game.

This clears any leftover cheat effects from memory. After that, everything should return to normal, and you can safely use other cheats again. Let me know if this trick works for you.

    • Hello Brendan, welcome! If possible, try deleting the cheat file your emulator generated—that often helps fix the issue. Unfortunately, this kind of problem happens on many DS emulators.

      • What do you mean delete the cheat that my emulator made? If by that you mean deleting the cheat from the game entirely, then no it didn’t work as I’ve already completely removed the cheat and to no avail.

        • You can also try closing your emulator with all cheats disabled, then reopen the game. Most emulators generate a separate cheat file once cheats are added — if you can find that file in your emulator’s directory, try deleting it to fully clear any applied cheats.

    • Hello Olivia, thank you for visiting Pokemoncoders for your cheat needs. I recommend avoiding the use of multiple cheats at the same time, as this often leads to issues. From my experience with some DS emulators, cheats can sometimes stop working for no clear reason—possibly due to overlapping codes. In most cases, restarting the emulator helps clear out any previously applied cheats and gets things back to normal. Hope this helps.

    • Hi Mike, welcome here. You mean all of the cheats listed here doesn’t work? That’s strange, I’m also a Delta user and I have no problem activating many of these cheats. Could you please confirm which Platinum English version you are using?

  51. Whenever I apply the cheat named “Shiny Pokémon Encounter” it crashes the game. And when I apply the cheat “Encounter Shiny Pokemon” it doesn’t crash the game but it doesn’t work. I want to get the initial pokemon as a Shiny but I just can’t. I’m following the rules, I am using the UltraDS Plus app on my android phone and it just doesn’t work.

    • Hey Carlos, may I know which DS emulator you are using? There are emulators that automatically cut off longer codes, and the solution to this is to slice up those longer codes and add them as separate cheats. The alternative shiny cheat has a button combination to press to be able to activate, check your emulator key settings if they are properly configured for R and A, and L and A. If they’re not, you have to remap the keys, you can use this guide on How to Configure Buttons on DeSmuME. Hope this helps.

    • Hi Ea, which version of Platinum are you using? We test cheats only on the English versions. If you’re playing a non-English version, that’s likely why the cheat isn’t working for you.

    • Hi Hea_vvy, unfortunately, these cheats were tested only on the English version of Platinum, so they will most likely not work on non-English versions. However, we’re looking into the possibility of exploring cheats for non-English Pokemon games. Stay tuned!

  53. Hello PokeCoders! I am attempting to use the wild encounter modifier however when I hold select before the encounter it breaks the game and makes the top orange and the bottom black causing me to have to restart the rom. Is there any way to fix this?

    • Hello Noah, which DS emulator are you using? Try restarting your emulator with all cheats disabled. You might be experiencing glitches caused by previously enabled cheats. Saving your game progress and then restarting the emulator can help. Let me know if this works for you.
