Pokemon Dreamstone Mysteries features some of the most creative and memorable Gym Leaders ever made in a ROM hack.
Each one fits perfectly into the game’s rich story, with unique teams, personalities, and battle conditions that make every encounter stand out.
But challenging all eight is far from easy because many Gym Leaders aren’t even at their gyms when you arrive, and some require completing special tasks before you can battle them.
Their teams aren’t your kid-friendly Let’s Go teams. They’re all war-ready teams that help them protect Comoria against threats.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through all eight Gym Leaders, their Pokemon teams, and how you can even challenge them in the first place. Without further ado, let’s get your Cormoria badges!

First Badge: Gastree City Gym

| Gym Leader: Inger Type: Rock Location: Gastree City Badge: King Badge | Team: Rockruff (Lv. 12) Alolan Geodude (Lv. 12) Minior (Lv. 13) |
Your first Gym challenge in Pokemon Dreamstone Mysteries takes an unexpected twist.
When you enter the Gastree City Gym, the assistant informs you that Inger, the Gym Leader, isn’t available because he’s off training in frustration after being defeated by the previous challenger.
To face him, you’ll need to travel through Route 3 to the Underpass in Fennilahl Town.
The Underpass is full of trainers, making it an excellent spot to prepare for your first badge. When you reach the end, you’ll find Inger doing “emergency training.”
He’ll challenge you right there in the cave instead of inside the Gym.
Inger’s team consists of sturdy Rock-types, so bring along Grass- or Water-type Pokemon to counter his lineup easily.
Minior, his ace, can be tricky if you let its shields stay up—focus on breaking them quickly.
Once you win, Inger will accept his defeat gracefully and reward you with the Gastree Gym Badge on the spot.
When you return to Gastree City, the assistant will officially record your victory and congratulate you on earning your very first badge.
Second Badge: Ceram Base Camp Gym

| Gym Leader: Ariana Type: Fire Location: Ceram Base Camp Badge: Cinder Badge | Team: Alolan Growlithe (Lv. 16) Sizzlipede (Lv. 16) Alolan Tauros (Lv. 17) |
The second Gym introduces you to Ariana, the fiery and confident Gym Leader of Ceram Base Camp. However, when you first arrive, you’ll learn from the old man at the entrance that Ariana isn’t inside.
She’s currently dealing with trouble at the Supply Depot, where Team Somber has taken control.
Head there to lend her a hand. You’ll face several Team Somber grunts, which are perfect for some quick cash and training before your Gym battle.
After defeating their boss and the grunt with a Zorua, Ariana will thank you for your help and return to the Gym.
When you go back, you’ll encounter an unusual rule. The Ceram Base Camp Gym requires challengers to secure an appointment letter before battling the Leader.
You can get it from the upper floor and then have the assistant manager below sign it to make it valid.
Once you’ve got your paperwork sorted, it’s time to take on Ariana herself. Her team focuses on speedy Fire-types, so Water, Rock, or Ground-type moves will make quick work of her Pokemon. Be careful of her Alolan Tauros, which can hit surprisingly hard and fast.
Defeat Ariana to earn the Cinder Badge and continue your journey toward the next Gym challenge in the Cormoria region.
Third Badge: Galacrest City Gym

| Gym Leader: Kohla Type: Mixed Location: Galacrest City Badge: Stoic Badge | Team: Yamper (Lv. 20) Kirlia (Lv. 21) Dewott (Lv. 21) Ceruledge (Lv. 23) |
The third Gym is an even bigger twist, because it’s your rival Kohla who takes the stage as the Gym Leader.
The Galacrest Gym has a long-standing tradition of appointing the top graduate from the Detective Academy as Gym Leader for one year, and this time, Kohla earned that title.
Before you can challenge Kohla, you’ll need to solve the Gym’s puzzle. The setup is themed like a detective investigation, where you must choose the correct doors.
The correct order is Right, Left, Left. If you make a mistake, you’ll loop back to the start.
Each room also contains trainers that you must defeat to progress. Their teams aren’t too tough, but it’s a great opportunity to earn some extra experience before the main battle.
Once you reach Kohla, he won’t be your typical monotype Gym Leader.
His team mixes Electric, Psychic, Water, and Fire/Ghost types, so bringing Pokemon with solid coverage moves is essential. Ground- and Dark-type attacks work wonders here.
Defeating Kohla earns you the Stoic Badge and the ability to use Rock Smash outside of battle.
Fourth Badge: Silversun City Gym

| Gym Leader: Gloria Type: Grass Location: Silversun City Badge: Drama Badge | Team: Bayleef (Lv. 25) Linoone (Lv. 26) Lilligant (Lv. 26) Bombirdier (Lv. 26) |
The Silversun City Gym comes with an unexpected twist of showbiz flair. After battling through all the Trainers inside, you’ll reach the end only to discover that Gloria, the Gym Leader, isn’t there.
The lady waiting for you explains that Gloria is an actress, currently preparing for her next big performance at the Silversun City Theatre.
As compensation, she hands you a backstage pass, allowing you to access the theater’s restricted area.
Head over there and look for Gloria backstage. Once you find her, she recognizes your potential and challenges you right on the stage as part of her live show.
The battle is presented as a dramatic performance, complete with lights and an audience. Gloria’s team revolves around Grass-type tactics like status effects and healing moves.
Flying, Fire, and Bug-type Pokemon will help you sweep through her lineup efficiently. Her Flying and Dark types might catch you off guard though, so plan accordingly.
Fifth Badge: Mirroh Base Camp Gym

| Gym Leader: Carona Type: Fighting Location: Mirroh Base Camp Badge: Ironfist Badge | Team: Toxicroak (Lv. 31) Pangoro (Lv. 32) Annihilape (Lv. 32) Mega Medicham (Lv. 34) |
When you reach the fifth Gym, you’ll immediately notice a long line of challengers outside. The reason?
Mirroh Base Camp Gym is closing, and everyone’s trying to earn the final Ironfist Badge before it’s gone for good.
After talking to the staff, you’ll learn that this is a bittersweet day for the Gym and its members. Despite the somber atmosphere, the trainers inside are still fired up to give their all one last time.
Before you can challenge Carona, the Gym Leader, you must defeat all the remaining trainers, which is a double battle against the last two.
Once you’ve cleared the Gym, Carona will step up for her final match as a Gym Leader. Her team represents pure fighting spirit, featuring heavy hitters like Pangoro and Annihilape.
Her Mega Medicham is the real threat. It’s fast, powerful, and capable of sweeping unprepared teams.
Bring Flying, Psychic, or Fairy-type Pokemon to counter her lineup effectively.
Sixth Badge: Winterlilly Hollow Gym

| Gym Leader: Viniel Type: Electric Location: Winterlilly Hollow Badge: Charge Badge | Team: Kilowattrel (Lv. 41) Toxtricity (Lv. 42) Lanturn (Lv. 42) Mega Manectric (Lv. 43) |
When you first enter the Winterlilly Hollow Gym, it’s completely empty with no trainers or leader.
The Gym Guide tells you that Viniel, the Electric-type Gym Leader, has gone to Mount Mirroh Peak to help fight off Team Somber.
Travel there and you’ll find Viniel in the middle of an intense battle, taking on four grunts at once. You’ll step in to handle their boss, Moxie, yourself.
After the fight, you’ll witness Team Somber capturing Koraidon, a major canon event in the game’s plot.
Once the events at Mount Mirroh Peak conclude, you’ll have to meet your rival and Viniel again. Only then can you return to the Gym and descend into the hole in the floor to start your challenge.
The Gym puzzle may look confusing at first, but the trick is simple: press every switch you see and don’t miss the raised platforms since you can climb on them.
Viniel’s team hits fast and hard. Ground-type Pokemon like Excadrill will make this fight much easier. Watch out for his Mega Manectric, since it’s fast, powerful, and can easily annihilate your team if you aren’t ready for it.
Defeating Viniel earns you the Charge Badge and HM03 Surf, which replaces your broken one. He’ll also hint at the next Gym location before wishing you luck for what’s ahead.
Seventh Badge: Pelluca City Gym

| Gym Leader: Jania Type: Water Location: Pelluca City Badge: River Badge | Team: Pelipper (Lv. 41) Clawitzer (Lv. 43) Toedscruel (Lv. 43) Toxapex (Lv. 42) Mega Gyarados (Lv. 45) |
The Pelluca City Gym is home to the calm yet fierce Water-type leader, Jania. But when you arrive, you’ll find the gym empty once again.
The Gym Assistant tells you that Jania left for the Ivy River cave, where she’s trying to rescue a Pokemon trapped in the water.
Head there and look for Jania. Unfortunately, even with your help, the two of you can’t free the Pokemon yet.
Jania decides to return to her Gym to prepare for her battle, while you’re left knowing you’ll need more strength, and perhaps another HM, to continue the mission later.
Back at the Gym, you’ll face one of the trickiest puzzles yet. The floor is filled with water currents that push you in specific directions.
While it’s difficult to describe perfectly in text, the general solution is to move east, then north, then west to reach Jania’s platform.
Her team specializes in defense while setting up her ace, with Toxapex and Mega Gyarados being the main threats. Use Electric- or Grass-type Pokemon to dominate this battle.
After your victory, Jania awards you the River Badge and HM05, which lets you surf through strong currents, the same ones you saw at Ivy River.
Eighth Badge: Rivetshore City/S.S. Elegant Gym

| Gym Leader: Raazi Type: Steel Location: Rivetshore City/S.S. Elegant Badge: Granite Badge | Team: Alolan Dugtrio (Lv. 48) Skarmory (Lv. 50) Excadrill (Lv. 51) Coalossal (Lv. 51) Mega Aggron (Lv. 52) |
The eighth and final Gym in Pokemon Dreamstone Mysteries gives you a twist unlike any other because the Gym battle isn’t even in a Gym.
Instead, you’ll face the toughest leader in the Comoria region aboard a luxury ferry: the S.S. Elegant.
Before the big fight, you’ll need to go through the Aron-filled Quarry on the outskirts of Rivetshore City.
There, you’ll finally meet Raazi, the renowned Steel-type expert. Just as your battle begins, however, he receives an urgent call that abruptly postpones your Gym challenge.
To continue, head back to Rivetshore City and locate the cargo building that was previously blocked by a sailor.
The sailor is now gone, allowing you to sneak through a cargo container and board the S.S. Elegant.
Make your way to the upper deck, where Raazi awaits. His team is a perfect mix of speed, bulk, and raw power, with Mega Aggron serving as the ultimate wall.
Bring Fire-, Ground-, or Fighting-type Pokemon for the best chance to break through his defenses.
Once you defeat him, Raazi will award you the Granite Badge, officially marking your rise as a top-tier Pokemon Trainer in Comoria.
With all eight badges in hand, the path to the Pokemon League is finally open.
