Where to Get a Magmar?

Magmar location in the third stratum

First and foremost, let’s tackle where you can get a Magmar. They are located in the Third Stratum.

Their encounter rates are very high, so you’ll encounter one in no time. They are also Regional variations because they look like pirates.

If you want, you can also capture a Magby in the Third Stratum. A Magby will evolve into Magmar at level 30. It’s an option, but maybe you’re better off just getting a Magmar and evolving it with the Magmarizer.

Doing the Merchant’s Quest

Let’s start with the first method, which is to do the Merchant’s Quest. In order to start this quest, you need to head to the Fourth Stratum.

Head to Base Camp and talk to this Merchant NPC. He will ask you to take back his stolen goods from the pirates.

Once you’ve taken the quest, exit the Fourth Stratum and head out to sea. Talk to the captain, which will then allow you to access the sea overworld map.

You’ll need to look for the Pirates’ Island on the map, located in the lower left part of the map.

There is no F.O.E. Pokemon blocking your way, and you don’t have to worry about the hard puzzle.

Once you are inside the Pirates’ Island, there is a puzzle that you will need to solve.

Avoiding the Pirates

The concept of this location is that you must not be seen by the pirates inside. When you are seen, you will be sent back to the entrance of the location.

There are no Pokemon and Trainer battles here, so all you need to be careful with are those pirates setting their gaze on you.

While it may seem to be hard, there are large gaps during the pirate’s movements.

Take advantage of the barrels as well when they can block the pirate’s vision. The rocks, unfortunately, will not block the vision, so you will be seen.

There are two floors for you to traverse. Once you reach the top floor, the red treasure chest inside will contain the Merchant’s goods.

Once you have them, you can exit and just let the pirates see you. That way, you’ll be sent back to the entrance, and you can return to your ship and back to Talrega.

Turning in the Quest

Head back to the Fourth Stratum and turn over the merchant’s goods to the Merchant.

He will reward you with the Magmarizer and an Electirizer, which is used to evolve an Electabuzz into an Electivire. That’s it, you have one Magmarizer for now, but there’s another method for it.

Buying Magmarizers From Napier’s Shop

Napier's shop

This second method allows you to buy an unlimited amount of Magmarizers, but it takes a while to do so. You need to head out to sea and go to the Aqua Resort.

Once there, head to the building in the center. A scene will play out, and after that, head up and talk to the NPC with the exclamation mark.

Head to the room on the right and talk to the NPC named Napier. She will give you a series of challenging quests.

Once you complete her quests, you can check the shop if the Magmarizer is available for sale. This one is a bit tough and will really take you a bit later in the game, so just keep that in mind.

Pokemon Odyssey Magmarizer: FAQs

Is Magmortar worth it in this game?

Magmortar is a Fire- and Water-type Pokemon. It does look cool since it looks like a pirate. This is one of those Pokemon that is a case-by-case basis.
Perhaps get one by doing the merchant’s quest. One Magmarizer should be enough, so you don’t need to do Napier’s quests.

How early can you access the Aqua Resort?

As soon as you have access to the ship. You can unlock Napier’s quests early on, but the problem is finishing these quests.
They aren’t easy, and people advise that they should be done when you’re in the Sixth Stratum, but it’s not a requirement.

In Closing

There you have it, the Pokemon Odyssey Magmarizer location that you need. It can be a pain since you need to do some quests, but that all comes with the territory.

Perhaps you could simply do the merchant’s quest. Turn it over for a Magmarizer and Electririzer.

You would mostly need one Magmortar anyway, since the game has a ton of other Pokemon to choose from. Think of this as just completing a Pokedex when you have a Magmortar.
