How to Get Through the Dragon’s Den Whirlpools in Pokemon Infinite Fusion

In the Gen 2 games Pokemon Crystal, Gold, and Silver, the Dragon’s Den was one of the locations you could explore. It was retained in the Gen 4 remakes, namely Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Dragon’s Den is an area where Clair sends you to prove your worth, and then she ultimately gives you the Rising Badge.

In Pokemon Infinite Fusion, it has a bit of a maze when it comes to whirlpools.

These whirlpools were not in the original Dragon’s Den, and they can be a headache.

Don’t worry, we’ll teach you how to get through the Dragon’s Den whirlpools in Pokemon Infinite Fusion.

How to Get to the Dragon’s Den?

This happens a bit later in the game. What you need to do is beat the Elite Four first. Then, the Johto part of the game will open up.

Head towards Blackthorn City, which is where the fourth Gym Badge in the Johto questline is. The Dragon’s Den is located behind the Blackthorn City Gym.

Dragon's den entrance

Unlike in the original, you can actually enter the Dragon’s Den before beating the Gym Leader and getting the Rising Badge.

However, if you go attempt the whirlpools after beating the Gym Leader, then they become easier.

The whirlpools in the dragon's den

The whirlpools are these circular objects that you see on the water when you Surf inside the Dragon’s Den.

If you touch any of them, they will take you back to the starting point. That can be annoying, and the whirlpools will disappear and reappear in different locations.

Even if you’re stagnant in one area with no whirlpool, one will spawn at the bottom and take you back.

It’s not fatal, but it’s a headache because it will get you back over and over again. There’s also the problem where sometimes (not all) the whirlpools look like they’re glitching.

There’s also a blue whirlpool that doesn’t really do anything. It’s sort of like a graphical bug, but the blue whirlpools offer nothing but will also send you back.

You can follow the images below to learn where to go when it comes to overcoming the whirlpools.

Note: You can also bring some Repels here, since there are encounters when you are Surfing. It’s not required and can be very convenient.

Move 1

When you see that pattern, move to the left and down to where the star is. Wait for a couple of seconds until the pattern changes.

Move 2

This part is short, but it takes a lot of patience. The whirlpools won’t be disappearing right away, so when they do, move fast to where you need to be, which is the star.

Move 3

Be patient once again, since the whirlpools will take time to disappear. Once the one to your left is gone, head left and down straight, and then right.

For reference, you can count 8 whirlpools as you’re going down and count 3 when going right and wait.

Move 4

When you arrive at the spot, quickly move to the left. Wait a moment and move left again, and continue down to the bottom part where you can’t go down anymore. Move right 1 whirlpool and wait.

Rewards for Overcoming the Whirlpools

On the first trip, you can talk to the Old Lady NPC who lives in the house at the end of the Dragon’s Den section.

She will give you a Gible that you can use. The next time you come back, you can choose to reset your Karma. Paying her 5,000 will reset your Karma, which can be useful.

FAQs

Can I do this later in the game?

Yes, the Dragon’s Den is completely optional in Pokemon Infinite Fusion. Clair won’t send you there, and you can enter it anytime, even if you have already completed it the first time.

Can you encounter a Dragonite in the Dragon’s Den?

Yes, you can, but the encounter rate is super low. You need a Super Rod and fish for it. It only has a 1% encounter rate. You have to be patient if you want to get one.

Is the Old Lady the only one who can reset Karma?

Yes, however, there are numerous ways for you to lower or raise your Karma if you need to. The Old Lady in the Dragon’s Den is a convenient and faster way to do so. Plus, if you don’t want to spend 5,000 per reset, then there are other options.

Do you need any other HMs in the Dragon’s Den?

No, you just need Surf, and the Dragon’s Den itself isn’t that big in the first place.

In Closing

Now that you know how to get through the Dragon’s Den whirlpools in Pokemon Infinite Fusion, you can easily traverse through them.

If you don’t need a Gible or a Karma reset, then you don’t have to do this section right away. It’s a grueling task, but once you’re done, you don’t have to go back there. Get that Gible and never look back.

Keep in mind that every time you want to get to the Old Lady’s house, you have to go through the Dragon’s Den whirlpools again.
