Mosslax, a Snorlax that slept for so long that plants began growing all over its body, is one of the key characters you’ll encounter after reaching Bleak Beach in Pokemon Pokopia.
This cute but drowsy Pokemon holds a unique specialty that you can take advantage of even if you’re outside its biome. Known as “Eat,” this specialty may have a vague description, but all it does is provide various buffs depending on what food you offer to Mosslax.
This guide will help you understand Mosslax’s specialty a bit more, specifically on how each buff works, how to trigger a specific buff, and how to find Mosslax for those who just reached the Bleak Beach biome.

Mosslax’s food tier list
Mosslax prefers specific foods, especially cooked dishes. Offering higher-quality meals will grant stronger buffs compared to raw ingredients like berries.
Here is how Mosslax in Pokemon Pokopia provides a certain degree of buffs:
- B-Tier: Berries, vegetables, and drinks only allow Mosslax to trigger weak buffs.
- A-Tier: Simple dishes (meals with the name “Simple” on them) allow Mosslax to trigger normal buffs.
Dishes of the highest quality grant the strongest form of buffs. The table below shows the foods that provide the best buffs for each flavor:
| Flavor | Best Foods to Offer |
|---|---|
| Spicy | Healthy Soup, Bread Bowl, Crouton Salad |
| Dry | Crushed-Berry Salad |
| Sour | Flavorful Soup |
| Bitter | Bitter Hamburger Steak |
| Sweet | Fluffy Bread |
| Neutral | Vibrant Hamburger Steak |
The moment you put the food on Mosslax’s plate, the game will notify you that the buff is in effect, and its effects will stay active even if you want to visit other biomes like the Rocky Ridges or the Withered Wastelands.

Where to Find Mosslax in Pokopia
For those who haven’t befriended Mosslax yet, all you have to do is gain access to the Bleak Beach biome and follow its story line by completing a series of requests.
Eventually, one of your Pokemon friends will tell you of a sound coming from a concealed area in Bleak Beach, and that is where you’ll find Mosslax.

Mosslax is in deep sleep, and it has been in that state since the humans disappeared. To wake Mosslax up, your task is to make Bleak Beach much brighter, and your Pokemon friends will help you by giving you a series of quests.

While completing the quest for Mosslax, you’ll also encounter Peakychu, a peculiar variety of Pikachu, and even Raikou, one of the legendary beasts. Keep working your way through the quest, and Mosslax should wake up.
At some point in the game, Mosslax will tell you that it’s hungry, prompting you to make the gourmet’s altar habitat, where you can put food and trigger buffs.
Final Thoughts
Using the right Mosslax buff in Pokemon Pokopia can help you make more Pokemon friends, craft more items, and obtain other stuff that you’ll rarely see in the game.
To get the most out of Mosslax buffs, you’ll also need to unlock the cooking mechanics, which is only possible by playing the story of the Rocky Ridges biome, where you’ll meet a Greedent named Chef Dente.
If you haven’t been to the Rocky Ridges yet, you can settle on feeding Mosslax raw ingredients for now and take your time restoring the Bleak Beach and increasing its environment level.
