Unravel the secrets of this mysterious building with our Pokemon ROWE Mirage Tower walkthrough!
Mirage Tower is a building like no other. This peculiar building in the desert is the only one to spawn and despawn.
How can you locate a building that seemingly sinks to the depths of the desert? What treasures lie within this sandy tower?
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the Mirage Tower in Pokemon ROWE and guide you to the rare item that waits for you at the top.
Editor’s Update (July 2026): Improved the table’s format and added some Pokemon ROWE links.

What Is Mirage Tower in Pokemon ROWE?
Mirage Tower was first seen in Pokemon Emerald. It is a building that appears and disappears in the desert on Route 111.
This tower still emerges in the same spot in ROWE, but now you can visit it earlier because of the game’s open-world nature. And the best part is you don’t need a bike or to solve any puzzles. You can walk the entire time.
The Mirage Tower is home to desert Pokemon and at the top lie two Pokemon fossils. You can get one of them and revive it to obtain a rare ancient Pokemon.
Pokemon ROWE Mirage Tower Walkthrough
You can get to Mirage Tower anytime you want. But to fully access the building and get to the top, you need to have a Pickaxe.
The Pickaxe replaced Rock Smash in this ROM hack, and it can be obtained after earning your 4th badge.

Go north of Mauville City and look for a Hiker who will give you clues. The tower spawns right beside him as well.
If you see the tower as soon as you arrive, then all you have to do is go in. But if it hasn’t appeared yet, simply go in and out of the area until it spawns.
I find it quickest to spawn when I go back and forth from Mauville City to Route 111.

Once the tower spawns, head inside. The path here is pretty straightforward, and it’s impossible to get lost from the entrance; head east, then north to a ladder. Then, follow the path to another ladder.

On the third floor, head west then north to find a pair of smashable rocks. Use your Pickaxe to destroy them and go through to climb another ladder.

At the top of the tower, you’ll find two fossils, but you have to smash another rock to get to them. The one on the left is the Root Fossil, and the one on the right is the Claw Fossil.
You can only take one, and the other will sink to the ground and be gone forever.
The Claw Fossil resurrects into Anorith, and the Root Fossil turns into Lileep. After choosing one, you will be teleported outside. Then, the Mirage Tower and the remaining Fossil will sink into the sand.

Claw Fossil or Root Fossil? Which Should I Choose?
Both fossils can be resurrected into ancient Pokemon. The Claw Fossil becomes Anorith and later evolves into Armaldo, a Rock/Bug Pokemon.
Meanwhile, the Root Fossil resurrects into Lileep and its evolution, Cradily, a Grass/Rock type.
Both Pokemon have mediocre stats and don’t stand out. They also have only 2 Pokemon in their evolution line.
Personally, I went with the Root Fossil because Cradily is the only real Grass/Rock Pokemon there is.
Take a closer look at their stats:
| Stats | Cradily | Armaldo |
|---|---|---|
| HP | 86 | 75 |
| Attack | 81 | 125 |
| Special Attack | 81 | 70 |
| Defense | 97 | 100 |
| Special Defense | 107 | 80 |
| Speed | 43 | 45 |
| Total | 495 | 495 |
They have the same base stats as Cradily, who is more focused on defense, and Armaldo, who is more offense-oriented.
How to Resurrect the Fossil From Mirage Tower?

In order to resurrect the fossils, you need to go to Rustboro City. Head over to the northwest part and find the Devon Corp. Building.
Go to the second floor and talk to the scientist at the bottom right desk. He specializes in reviving fossils and will resurrect yours for free.
How to Get Both Fossils from Mirage Tower Pokemon ROWE?

Well, you’re a greedy one. But it is true that while the other fossil sank, you can still get it. But first, you need to defeat the Elite Four.
After that, go to Fallarbor Town and look for the Fossil Maniac’s house. Go inside and talk to the little girl, and she will give you the Dig TM.

Proceed inside the hole, and you’ll find the Fossil Maniac, who will warn you about the tunnels beyond. Go inside and head east to find the remaining fossil from the Mirage Tower.
Conclusion
That wraps up our guide for the Mirage Tower in Pokemon ROWE.
Spawning in this mysterious building can be exciting, and the journey of reviving two fossilized Pokemon is thrilling as well. Make sure to bring some repels if you don’t want wild Pokemon slowing you down.
