Super Mariomon Shiny Hunting: The Best Place

Best place for shiny hunting in super mariomon

Without a doubt, the Shiny Galaxy is the best place in the game for shiny hunting.

This special post-game area has triple shiny odds, which means your chances of encountering a shiny go from 1 in 4096 to approximately 1 in 1365. That alone makes it the go-to destination for shiny hunters.

But there’s more to it than just odds. The Shiny Galaxy also features:

  • A variety of high-level Mariomon, including many rare spawns and Legendaries
  • Access to advanced items like lures and high-catch-rate caps (like Fedora Caps)

If you don’t know how to get to the Shiny Galaxy, there’s a step-by-step guide below.

Secret Trick for Better Shiny Chances

Secret trick for better shiny chances

Most players don’t know about this trick, but this is how I got most of my shinies. Lures actually increase your shiny encounter rates by x3!

That means if you’re hunting in Shiny Galaxy, where odds are already tripled, stacking a Lure boosts your chances even further, making shiny hunting incredibly efficient.

Where to Get Lures:

  • Diamond City: Available early in the game from the general store but has limited options.
  • Shiny Galaxy Shop: This is the ideal place to stock up on your shiny hunting needs since it offers both Lures and high-catch-rate caps.

When paired with the Shiny Galaxy’s already boosted encounter rate, your odds of finding a shiny Mariomon shoot up dramatically.

Removed Glitch: The Shiny Bullet Bill Exploit

There used to be a weird glitch in early versions of Super Mariomon (v1.2 and below). If you whited out to one of those shiny Bullet Bills, every single encounter afterward would be shiny until you triggered another red cannon Bullet Bill.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), this glitch was patched in v1.3 and beyond. I personally tested it, and it no longer works in the current patch of the game.

So if you’ve heard about this trick on old forums or Reddit, don’t waste your time. Stick to the working methods like Lures and the Shiny Galaxy.

Multiple Windows Shiny Hunting (For PC Users)

Multiple windows shiny hunting

If you’re playing on PC and are serious about shiny hunting, there’s a method that can massively speed up your shiny encounters: multi-window hunting.

How It Works:

If you’re playing Super Mariomon using mGBA, you can open multiple instances (tabs) of the emulator. This allows you to:

  • Run multiple versions of the game at once.
  • Sync reset timing across all windows.
  • Check multiple shiny encounters simultaneously.

You can use a keyboard, but a controller is more efficient and practical for this method because you can control all instances of the game through one controller. This drastically cuts down on the time it takes to get a shiny, especially if you’re doing soft resets, like getting a shiny starter.

Important: This method doesn’t work on VisualBoy Advance (VBA). VBA doesn’t support multiple synced windows and may crash in the process.

How to Get to Shiny Galaxy

How to get to shiny galaxy

Getting to the Shiny Galaxy is only possible after the main storyline is complete. That means finishing these key steps:

Step 1: Become Champion

  • Defeat the Elite Four.
  • Win the final League battle.
  • Watch the final credits.

After this, you’ll wake up in your house, now recognized as the Champion, having unlocked post-game content.

Step 2: Battle Sonic

Upon stepping out of your house, you’ll be greeted by a wild Sonic. You can chase after it and catch it, which I highly recommend you do.

Sonic is easily the strongest Mariomon in the game and will make your shiny hunting journey a lot easier, especially in terms of finishing battles quickly.

Step 3: Go to the Comet Observatory

After catching Sonic, warp to the Comet Observatory using your map. From there, head to the northernmost platform and talk to the green Luma. The Luma will recognize you as the Champion and teleport you to the Shiny Galaxy.

Once you’re in, you’ll be free to roam and start shiny hunting right away. Be sure to stock up on Lures and Caps at the local shop near the warp point.

Conclusion

Shiny hunting in Super Mariomon can be time-consuming and require a ton of patience, but it’s a fun challenge, especially once you know the optimal methods.

The Shiny Galaxy, with its tripled odds, fast encounters, and access to efficient items, is 100% the best shiny hunting location in the game.

Pair that with Lures or multi-window hunting, and you’ll significantly increase your chances of getting that rare, alternate-colored Mariomon.
