Antasma is one of the strongest bosses in the original Mario game. The same is true in Super Mariomon where the Bat King is a Legendary capture and can only be caught post-game.

If you’ve wrapped up the main story and are exploring the darker areas of your map and dex, catching this Mariomon will be one of your main post-game goals.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through the steps you need to make to get Antasma, where to find it, and why it’s one of the strongest mons in the game.

How to Get Antasma in Super Mariomon: The Final Nightmare

You can capture Antasma in a volcano cave in Shiny Galaxy after you have become the Champion. The area is only accessible after you get the power to jump from the yellow Luma.

Catching Antasma will also accomplish the quest, “The Final Nightmare.” Let me show you how to catch it after beating the League.

Spoilers Ahead! If you haven’t finished the game yet, this guide contains some post-game spoilers.

Step 1: Become Champion

Becoming champion in super mariomon

Before you can even think about catching Antasma, you need to finish the main storyline, which include the following achievements:

  • Defeating the Elite Four
  • Beating the final boss battle in the League
  • Watching the Champion registration cutscene with Peach and Professor E. Gadd

After that, you’ll be sent back to your room. From here, new post-game areas, including the Shiny Galaxy, become available.

After getting out of your house, you’ll face Sonic. I suggest you catch it immediately as it is the strongest Mariomon in the game and will help you with your Antasma quest.

Step 2: Go to the Shiny Galaxy

After catching Sonic, warp to the Comet Observatory and head to the northernmost area.

Talk to the green Luma, and it will tell you that now you’re the Champion. You need to go to the Shiny Galaxy to help out with something. You will be teleported to a new area.

Upon arriving, a red Luma will greet you and give you the special power to jump by pressing the A button. This special ability will allow you to reach Antasma’s area.

The Luma will also inform you about a strong being in the Shiny Galaxy and about someone who’s giving Lumas terrible nightmares.

Step 3: Find Antasma

Waterfall to antasma

Antasma is located inside the Shiny Galaxy Volcano. From the red Luma, head east and cross the river by pressing A to jump with your newfound ability. Keep heading east until you find a purple waterfall.

The grassy area left of the waterfall is a hotspot for rare captures. This is where I got my Birdo, extra starters like Piranha Plant, Hammer Bro, and more to help complete my Tattledex.

Anyway, climb the waterfall and keep heading north. You just need to jump over the ledges, heading upwards until you find a cave entrance.

From here. Keep heading north until you reach the uppermost part of the cave. Jump over a series of small islands to get to a large platform where Antasma lies in waiting.

Step 4: Catch Antasma

Catching antasma

If you still have a Crown Cap, then this will be an easy capture. But if you’ve used them already, here’s how you can still capture Antasma.

The Bat King is a Level 60 Dark type. So Bug, Fighting, and Fairy types should be your weapons here.

Lower its HP as much as possible. You can use a high catch-rate cap, but I went with the Fedora Cap. It’s a special cap that works better in dark places like this cave.

Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get it on the first try. This is a Legendary after all. Keep persevering, and you will definitely be able to catch it.

Antasma Stats and Ability

Base Stats

  • HP: 100
  • Attack: 50
  • Defense: 60
  • Special Attack: 120
  • Special Defense: 60
  • Speed: 110
  • Total: 500

Conclusion

Antasma may look creepy and villainous, but it is surely a good Mariomon to have on your side. Out of the box, Antasma is a lethal special attacker with great speed.

It has a ton of firepower with moves such as Dark Void and Dark Pulse for STAB. It also comes with Nasty Plot. One or two of these, and you can sweep entire teams with the Bat King.

Antasma’s signature ability is Bad Dream, which deals passive damage to sleeping opponents at the end of every turn. Pair such an ability with moves like Hypnosis and Dream Eater or teammates with sleep-inducing status effects.

Cheats can also be handy in this game if you wish to reduce your time grinding and for extra fun. Good thing we’re able to collect and test some working Super Mariomon Cheats.
