If there’s one thing that stands out most for me in this ROM hack, it’s the changes to the types of the starter trio. Typhlosion with Fire/Ground just makes so much sense!

Precautionary Steps Before Using Cheats

Don’t get me wrong, our cheats are safe and tested by actual players. But before splurging on our Pokemon Core Crystal cheats, it’s important to take a few safety steps to protect your game progress.

Since Core Crystal is a ROM hack built on Pokemon Crystal, cheats can behave differently than they do in the original version.

Without proper precautions, you could end up with glitched saves, missing Pokemon, or even a corrupted ROM.

Always Back Up Your Saves

Before activating any cheat, make a copy of both your .sav file and save state. This ensures that if a cheat breaks your game, you can easily revert to a working version instead of losing hours of progress.

Don’t Use Too Many Codes At Once

Avoid stacking multiple codes at once. ROM hacks are already modified games, so combining too many cheats can cause unexpected conflicts or crashes. Activate one code, test it, and if it works smoothly, move on to the next.

Choose the Right Emulator

Different emulators handle cheat codes differently. For Pokemon Core Crystal, the most stable and cheat-friendly emulators are mGBA and VisualBoyAdvance (VBA). I personally use mGBA.

Both support GameShark and CodeBreaker formats and have proven reliable when testing multiple codes.

46: (70) Is where you start from after catching or trading.
DA: (218) Is the requirement for happiness evolution.
FF: (255) Is the maximum. (This will set Return’s base damage to 102.)

This cheat makes egg egg-hatching process much quicker. Place the egg in your party. Turn the code on. Take one step and TURN THE CODE OFF.

Walk around 100 steps, and the egg will hatch.
