Well, one of the greatest achievements you can reach in this game is catching Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic is hands-down the coolest and most broken Mariomon in the entire game. If you want to complete your collection or build the strongest Mariomon team by capturing this speedster, I got your back.
In this guide, I’ll teach you how to get Sonic in Super Mariomon and why catching it is worth the effort.

How to Get Sonic in Super Mariomon
Sonic is a Legendary/Mythic capture in Super Mariomon that you can only catch after you become the Champion.
After going out of your house, the hedgehog appears, and after a chase, it will battle you. Catch it using a Crown Cap, and Sonic will be yours. Let me show you how I caught it in more detail.
Step 1: Become Champion

Sonic completely breaks the game once you get it. From its stats and ability to its moveset, everything about this mon is OP. That’s why it can only be acquired post-game.
So, before trying to find Sonic, let alone capture it, focus on beating the Elite Four and winning the CAP Challenge.
After defeating Luigi in the final battle, the professor and Princess Peach will register you and your team as champions.
After the cutscene, you’ll be taken back to the start menu. Load your game, and you’ll be back in your room.
Go out of the house, and the hedgehog will appear in front of you. Then, the Blue Blur quest will start.
Step 2: Find Sonic

After seeing it, Sonic will dash away. Follow the path east, then north, to find Sonic again in a patch of grass.
It will run away again, so chase after it by jumping over the block and heading north.
Go down the first warp pipe you see to be transported to Green Hill Zone. Keep heading north, and Sonic will be waiting for you.
After hopping teasingly, off it goes again. Follow it east and cross the bridge.
It will circle around and head down; simply follow its path. From here, you will see Sonic’s path heading down, east, and north again. Pretty easy to tail behind it.
Keep following, and you’ll reach a dead end, finally cornering Sonic. This will initiate your battle with the hedgehog.
Step 3: Catch Sonic

This is the toughest part. When I say Sonic is broken, it is. Luckily, you have an entire party of Mariomons with you.
Sonic is Level 70 during this encounter. It sports an Electric and Fighting dual typing, so Ground, Psychic, Flying, and Fairy types are your best bet.
What makes it really broken is its signature ability, Chaos Emeralds. When Sonic takes a hit that can make it faint, it will retain 1 HP, kind of like a broken Focus Band. Then, it will transform into Super Sonic, giving it a huge stat boost and max HP again.
And guess what, its Chaos Emerald’s Focus Band effect is triggered again. Bring its HP down to 1, and here’s where you bring out the precious Crown Cap. This is literally what you should be saving it for.
Sonic in Super Mariomon: Broken Blue Blur

Sonic (Transformation: Super Sonic) is a 666 Base Stat Legendary/Mythic capture in Super Mariomon.
Sonic is number 151 in the Tattledex and is available as a post-game reward/cameo catch. Sonic is completely OP and absurd, and once you get it, there’s no going back.
For context, I’ve played the most recent version of the game, caught almost all Mariomons, and even messed around with the Super Mariomon ladder on Showdown.
I’m not the best competitive player, but I know my way around the game enough to tell you this mon is insanely broken.
Let’s break down the base stats first. These are with neutral nature, max IVs, and no EVs at levels 50 and 100.
| Sonic Stats | Super Sonic Stats |
|---|---|
| HP: 145 (Lv50) / 281 (Lv100) Attack: 163 (Lv50) / 322 (Lv100) Defense: 70 (Lv50) / 136 (Lv100) Special Attack: 153 (Lv50) / 302 (Lv100) Special Defense: 70 (Lv50) / 136 (Lv100) Speed: 240 (Lv50) / 476 (Lv100) Base Stat Total (BST): 666 | HP: 199 (Lv50) / 389 (Lv100) Attack: 173 (Lv50) / 342 (Lv100) Defense: 95 (Lv50) / 186 (Lv100) Special Attack: 163 (Lv50) / 322 (Lv100) Special Defense: 95 (Lv50) / 186 (Lv100) Speed: 250 (Lv50) / 496 (Lv100) Base Stat Total (BST): 800 |
Yes. You read that right — 800 base stat total post-transformation. There’s literally nothing that can stand against it in the game. But what makes it the most broken mon is the next point.
Chaos Emeralds: Game-Breaking Ability

What pushes Sonic into god-tier territory isn’t just the base stats — it’s the signature ability, Chaos Emeralds.
Think of it as a Zygarde Power Construct clone that’s completely bonkers. Here’s how it works:
- If Sonic is hit with a move that would normally knock it out, regardless of its current HP, it survives with 1 HP.
- It immediately transforms into Super Sonic, fully heals, and gets a huge stat boost.
- This trigger works like a permanent Focus Band, not a one-time use.
It’s literally a Focus Band that works even if you have only 2 HP!
Then, it turns into a Super Saiyan with buffed stats and gains all its health back. Not only that, when it transforms, Super Sonic can benefit from the permanent Focus Band effect once more.
Conclusion
Catching Sonic in Super Mariomon is an absolute rollercoaster. It’s a reward for beating the game, for completing your team, and for embracing the chaos of what is honestly one of the most creative fan games I’ve played in a while.
It’s overpowered. It’s fast. It’s practically a meme. And it’s NOT EVEN A MARIOMON! So go chase it down, bring that Crown Cap, and add the broken blue blur to your party.
But you’ve been warned. Once you catch it, there’s no going back.
