What Pokemon Evolve With a Moon Stone

The Moon Stone was introduced in Generation I as one of the evolutionary stones in the game. It is carried on later in the other games and is even the opposite of the Sun Stone. When you know what Pokemon evolve with a Moon Stone, you can fully get some of the best Pokemon around.

Where to get the Moon Stone

Generation I

Red/Blue/Green/Yellow

  • Located in the eastern gate in Route 2 but you need a Cut HM for it. (Once)
  • Located in the northwest area of 1F in Mt. Moon. (Once)
  • Located in the southeast part in B2F on the wall past the Super Nerd in Mt. Moon. (Once)
  • Located in the northwest area of B2F in the Team Rocket Hideout. (Once)
  • Located in the northeast area of 1F in the Pokemon Mansion. (Once)

Generation II

Gold/Silver/Crystal

  • Located in the western area of the Tohjo Falls but you need a Surf HM for it. (Once)
  • The player’s mom can also purchase it when they leave their money with her. (Once)
  • Located in the lower right entrance of Ruins of Alph. (Once)
  • Located in the rock west of the shop but you need a Rock Smash HM for it. You can only get it during Monday Night. (Repeatable)

Generation III

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald

  • Located in the west area of 1F in the Meteor Falls. (Once)
  • Can be stolen from a Lunatone. (Repeatable)

FireRed/LeafGreen

  • Located in the eastern gate in Route 2 but you need a Cut HM for it. (Once)
  • Located in the northwest area of 1F in Mt. Moon. (Once)
  • Located in the southeast part in B2F on the rock past the Super Nerd in Mt. Moon. (Once)
  • Located in the northwest area of B2F in the Team Rocket Hideout. (Once)
  • Located in the northeast area of 1F in the Pokemon Mansion. (Once)
  • Can be obtained from Lostelle’s father after delivering the Meteorite to him. (Once)
  • Can be stolen from a Clefairy. (Repeatable)

Generation IV

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum

  • Located in the northeast area of Eterna City but only in Platinum. (Once)
  • Located in the north area of Mt. Coronet near the boulder but only in Platinum. (Once)
  • Can be stolen from Lunatone, Clefairy, and Cleffa. (Repeatable)

HeartGold/SoulSilver

  • Located in the western area of the Tohjo Falls but you need a Surf HM for it. (Once)
  • The player’s mom can also purchase it when they leave their money with her. (Once)
  • Located in the lower right entrance of Ruins of Alph. (Once)
  • Located near the pond west of the shop in Mt. Moon Square but only during Monday Nights. (Repeatable)
  • Can be traded in the Pokeathlon Dome every Wednesday for 3000 Pts. (Repeatable)
  • Can be won when you land first place in the Bug-Catching Contest. (Repeatable)
  • Can be stolen from Lunatone and Clefairy. (Repeatable)

Black/White

  • Can be received as a gift from Lenora after you defeated Team Plasma in Pinwheel Forest. (Once)
  • Located in the eastern area and in the north behind Worker Heath. (Once)
  • Can be obtained by a Pokemon with Pickup ability. (Repeatable)
  • Can be obtained from Dust Clouds. (Repeatable)
  • Can be stolen from Lunatone, Clefairy, and Clefable. (Repeatable)

Black2/White2

  • Located near the Season Research Lab in Route 6. (Once)
  • Located on the broken bridge in the Giant Chasm (Once)
  • Can be obtained by a Pokemon with Pickup ability. (Repeatable)
  • Can be obtained from Dust Clouds and Hidden Grottoes. (Repeatable)
  • Can be stolen from Lunatone, Clefairy, and Clefable. (Repeatable)
  • Can be obtained from the Pokemon Dream Radar after beating Tornadus. (Repeatable)

Generation VI

X/Y

  • Located in the south area in the 1F of the Reflection Cave. (Once)
  • Located in the east and then north part of Terminus Cave but you need the Rock Smash HM. (Once)
  • Can be obtained by a Pokemon with Pickup ability. (Repeatable)
  • Can be obtained when you complete the Secret Super Training through the Drag Down Hydreigon Regimen. (Repeatable)
  • Can be obtained from Psychic Inver in Route 18. (Repeatable)

Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire

  • Located in the west area of 1F in the Meteor Falls. (Once)

  • Can be obtained from Jagged Pass when you beat Expert Shelby. (Repeatable)
  • Can be obtained by a Pokemon with Pickup ability. (Repeatable)

Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon

  • Located on the east side near the pond in Route 13. (Once)
  • Located in Area 3 from a man when you show him a Lunatone after you become Champion but only in Moon and Ultra Moon. (Once)
  • Can be obtained by a Pokemon with Pickup ability. (Repeatable)
  • Can be obtained in Poke Pelago through treasure hunting. (Repeatable)
  • Can be stolen from Cleffa, Clefairy, and Jigglypuff. (Repeatable)
