Changes to Types in Generation 2-5 Compared to Generations 6+

There were few minor differences for Generations 2-5 type Pokemon compared to Generation 6 and onwards; you will notice there’s no Fairy-type Pokemon in Generations 2-5, also, the Dark and Ghost type Pokemon were not very effective against Steel but normal effect in 6+.

Changes Compared to Generations 2-5 and Generations 6+

In the first of release of Pokemon game series, originally there were no Steel and Dark type Pokemon. The Ice type Pokemon moves takes normal attack against Fire type.

You’ll also notice that Ghost Pokemon had no effect on Psychic type Pokemon. However, it is said that this is bug in the programming but was rectified in Generation 2. Lastly, Bug Pokemon was super effective against Poison and conversely.
