Pokemon Yellow Cheats via GameShark Codes

The cheats below are fully tested and working for the Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition version.

Note: Some of the cheats such as the Rare Candy require master codes. Master codes should be entered and activated first, or else the cheat will not work.

WARNING: Try to activate no more than two cheats at once. Cheats can be useful in the game, but they can ruin your game.

Overusing cheats can cause the game to confuse and may result in a crash. Just to be safe, be sure to save the game before activating any cheats.

You can also follow this troubleshooting guide whenever you encounter issues with the listed cheats below.

  2. Anyone know of a code for a “Trade Stone” (I’m making that name up) for us emulator players that are unable to actually do trades in Red, Blue, and Yellow (Possibly other newer generations too)? or are we stuck with not being able to evolve those specific pokemon?

or anyone know of a glitch/bug to accomplish the same feat (Similar to the lvl100 Nidoking Glitch, or the MissingNo. glitch).

  3. I’ve noticed that the codes for Yellow version here as VERY Similar to the ones for Red and Blue. The base of the code is slightly different but the specialty section appears to be the same, for example: “Wild Pokemon Modifier” Red/Blue 01xxD8CF and for Yellow it’s 01xxD7CF, just replace the “xx” with the pokemon’s specific code (It’s the same for both versions). same with “Buy xx from Pokemart (1st spot)” codes R\B is 01xx7CCF and Yellow is 01xx7BCF, again replace xx with the specific Items code (Item’s include Potions, Repels, Bikes/Vouchers, TMs, HMs, and More; also the same in both versions). I’m sure there’s more similarities between them but that’s all I’m gonna list.

For the Original device players you need a Gameshark to use these codes on your Gameboy, Emulator users, look for a cheats option and enter them there. I’m using JohnGBC lite on my chinese android tablet and am editing the .cht file for mass entry, however I noticed that the app will only support so many codes in the cheat file. More than allowed won’t disappear but aren’t accessible to use, also all entries have to be in capital letters, no lowercase in the code.

  4. Update on my last post, the Rare Candies do work. You may get them at the start of the game via the codes but I found out after the Viridian Forest, you can use the Candies. The codes do work. Must be cause player was at a part Rare Candies wasn’t available, therefore couldn’t use till later? But thank you for the guide!!

  5. I saw that I have to enter the Master Code for Rare Candies, which I did, and it worked but I wasn’t able to use the Rare Candies I obtained. So I’m in confusion as to why I can’t use the Rare Candies. I could delete and repeat with out my other cheats active but I don’t know. Any answers as to why?
